Award-winning Bolton filmmakers, Matt Green and Marcus Johnson are set to shoot their latest short on location in Norway this weekend under its co-production partnership with Norwegian production house Flare.
Last year, the partners shot the comedy/drama Connect 4 in and around Westhoughton and Wigan. They went on to win the Best North West Filmmaker award at the BIFA-accredited Wigan & Leigh Short Film Festival as well as a nomination at the BIFA-accredited Worcester Film Festival and an official selection at BAFTA-accredited Manchester Film Festival.
Green and Johnson, who run Manchester-based production company, Glacé Media, are once again teaming up with Flare, but this time will be shooting their latest film in Stavanger in Norway.
The film, Følgmeg, is a dark comedy following a sinister male and his obsessive pursuit of a female eco influencer. His dark obsessions lead to real world kidnapping attempts that take him on a journey he didn’t quite expect. Følgmeg explores the dark side of online identities and how the way we portray ourselves digitally can play out in twisted ways in the real world.
The short film will once again see Bolton-born Green and Johnson take on their respective roles of director and producer. The film has been written by Norwegian writer Linn-Irene Ingemundsen and will star Norwegian actors Vilde Bjorkedal and Sondre Helgesen, fulfilling the roles of Eva and Edgar.
Co-producer Johnson said: “It’s extremely exciting for us to once again work alongside our production partners in Norway, Flare. The partnership we have developed is an amazing opportunity for both companies to expand our production and distribution capabilities both domestically and abroad.
“After starting our filmmaking careers in Bolton and Manchester 9 years ago, to further branch out into our first Scandinavian production is a testament to how far we have come as filmmakers and as a growing production company. The Manchester film scene is thriving at the moment and to be able to take our experiences here into new areas is a fantastic step for our company.”
Glacé Media was founded in 2017 and works mainly in the private sector, producing promotional video and film content for brands and businesses. The company also develops its own original Glacé Media productions such as podcasts (The Glacé Film Club), documentaries and short films, including the 2021 release, Joel and 2025 comedy, Connect 4.
