As part of Prolific North’s 2021 Global Reach project, a launch event was held with its supporting companies and a duo of Northern agencies which have expanded internationally.
The Global Reach project seeks to define and document the standing of the North’s tech, marketing services, media and creative companies on a global stage.
The full Global Reach report will include a profile of hundreds of these companies, and will be launched in full later this year with two events in Leeds and Manchester.
Sponsored by Beever and Struthers, the launch webinar saw discussion of the first research released from the report, and a broader conversation about international expansion.
Viewers also heard from those in the industry about their move to international business from the perspective of a Northern headquarters.
Attendees:
- Katy Leeson, MD, Social Chain
- Nickii Gray, Chief Executive Partner, Intermarketing
- Sarah Novotny, Head of Digital, Creative & Tech, Business Growth Hub
- Caroline Monk, Executive Partner, Beever and Struthers
- Dr Kirsty Fairclough, Reader in Screen Studies, Manchester Metropolitan’s School of Digital Arts (SODA)
The Global Reach research
Leading the research for Global Reach is Manchester Metropolitan’s School of Digital Arts (SODA), and Dr Kirsty Fairclough, Reader in Screen Studies, who looks after research and knowledge exchange.
SODA is the result of a £35m investment by GMCA and MMU, and was set up to close the digital skills pipeline by teaching students skills including video game art and design, photography, film, animation, and emerging technologies.
SODA has partnered with Prolific North on the Global Reach report, and provided a team of researchers on the project to identify companies which meet the criteria.
One Northern company which has seen rapid global expansion in recent years is digital marketing agency Social Chain.
