Free Liverpool e-scooter rides for Earth Day

Shared e-scooter company Voi is offering free rides to encourage greener travel for Earth Day on Monday 22 April 2024.

Residents of Liverpool, and all the other all UK towns and cities where Voi operates, including Cambridge, Cheltenham, Gloucester, London, Northampton, Oxford, Portsmouth and Southampton, can take advantage of a free 30 minutes e-scooter use valid from Earth Day, 22 April, until 28 April with code EARTHDAY.

Since Voi commenced operations in the UK in 2020, e-scooter and e-bike use has replaced almost 11 million short car journeys, reducing emissions by over 4,400 tonnes CO2e.

James Bolton, general manager, Voi UK, said: “We aim to transform how people move in cities, freeing us from car dependency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, working all the time to reduce the environmental impact of our value chain and operations in the process.

“This Earth Day we hope to really encourage that shift and that’s why we’re offering free e-scooter use, not only to help the planet, but to encourage new riders to have a go and see how easy and convenient it is to make the switch.”

The offer is valid for 22-28 April, and must be redeemed in the app by 28 April 2024.

Creating a sustainable service and sustainable vehicles is a key business target for Voi and the company has been working to increase recycled and recyclable materials in its vehicles.

91% of a Voi e-scooter is recyclable. Voi’s current e-scooter model also contains 72% recycled plastic content, with an aim to increase this to 90% for future models.

Bolton added: “We’re also proud to have increased the operational lifespan of our fleet to an average of 6 years for our V5 model, up from less than 1 year back in 2018 and we have implemented a resell programme for our old models which has seen 100% of our V3 models given a second life.”

Voi aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2030.
