Former PrettyLittleThing and British Gas marketer takes director’s role at Manchester agency

TrunkBBI, the Manchester City Centre-based creative and performance agency, has appointed Matt Holmes as its new performance and innovation strategy director.

Holmes brings over a decade of experience to the role, having held senior marketing positions at major consumer brands, including PrettyLittleThing, British Gas and Emirates Airline.

The newly created role at TrunkBBI reinforces the agency’s commitment to strengthening its strategic capabilities and helping clients to take advantage of the opportunities that AI and automation can present.

Jon Butler, CEO of TrunkBBI, said: “It’s fantastic news Matt has chosen to join us at TrunkBBI, bringing a wealth of experience from a variety of client-side and agency roles. His deep understanding of what clients need and his proven track record in driving business innovation and performance are unparalleled. Having Matt on board will undoubtedly elevate our team and take our agency to the next level.”

As well as leading TrunkBBI’s award-winning performance division, Holmes will also be responsible for exploring innovation within AI, technology and automation, seeking to drive further value, insight and results for the agency and its clients.

During his tenure as head of digital marketing for Manchester influencer-led fast fashion brand PrettyLittleThing, Holmes introduced predictive AI audience segmentation which helped a 100% increase in US paid social revenue, while at energy giant British Gas he introduced the brand’s first podcast sponsorship and TikTok creator campaigns, elevating results across the company’s range of Homecare products.

“In 12 years on the brand side, I’ve worked with numerous agencies, but none have matched TrunkBBI’s blend of award-winning creative and performance capabilities,” the new hire added.

“The fundamental challenge brands face is proving their significance at every opportunity – in crowded feeds, evolving search landscapes, and fragmenting attention. That demands serious investment in brand-building and creative that cuts through, measurable performance that demonstrates impact, and innovation through AI and technology that keeps you ahead. Our shared vision for helping brands establish and defend their significance is what excited me to join and lead this next phase.”
