Exec behind Sky’s digital hub in Leeds joins Very

The Very Group has appointed Matt Grest as its Chief Information Officer.

He joins from the BBC, where he’s currently Director of Digital Platform, leading a 400-strong team of technologists. During his 3 years at the BBC, he oversaw the transformation of its digital and broadcast products, into a fully integrated tech platform.

Prior to that, he was Director of Digital Platforms at Sky. He helped create the Sky digital hub in Leeds, building his team to 650 people within 18 months.

“The Very Group has a history of reinvention powered by technology and this is an exciting time to be joining the business,” he explained.

“With more people shopping online than ever before and continued appetite for flexible ways to pay, providing the best possible experience – powered by technology and data – has never been more important. I can’t wait to get started.”

At Very, he will head up the 350 staff working within its technology team.

Grest, will join the Merseyside online retailer at the end of December.
