Ex on the Beach star Charlotte Dawson hosts hi-tech celebrity livestream at Manchester Printworks

Ex on the Beach star Charlotte Dawson hosted the first-ever celebrity live steam event at Manchester dining and leisure destination Printworks yesterday, leveraging Europe’s largest digital ceiling and the interactive screens that were installed in the venue as part of its £27m refurbishment last year in the process.

The activation featured a virtual live stream with the reality TV star, centred on the state-of-the-art e-gaming screen where Dawson interacted directly with visitors.

The activation utilised Cheshire-based broadcast and production tech giant Blackmagic’s Atem Extreme media switcher, using its advanced chromakey technology to flawlessly integrate Charlotte into the live broadcast. The seamless integration elevated the virtual engagement experience, delivering crystal-clear visuals and an immersive atmosphere and showcased the venue’s approach to digital transformation and interactive media experiences.

Alongside the live-stream event, Printworks unveiled mood-boosting animations on its expansive 1,000sq m digital ceiling, featuring a captivating display of rainbow-coloured dancing umbrellas designed to brighten the mood at this dreary time of year. The installation infused the space with energy and excitement, showcasing the dynamic versatility of the venue’s state-of-the-art technology and its ability to create truly immersive experiences.

Dan Davis, centre manager at Printworks, said: “2024 was a transformative year for Printworks and we’re thrilled to kickstart 2025 with such an exciting and interactive activation. Our state-of-the-art screens have opened a world of creative possibilities, from dazzling displays like our Bonfire Night spectacular to the magical Christmas light switch-on. This unique live-stream event with Charlotte Dawson showcases the versatility of our offerings and reflects our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences.

“Printworks’ distinctive design and character make it one of a kind in the city. It offers a space where new and returning visitors can enjoy a blend of historical architecture and modern innovation, creating opportunities to attract and engage audiences through creative experiences as they visit our tenants. Our aim is to make Printworks a must-visit destination, not just for locals but for visitors from across the UK and beyond.”
