EasyJet to pull out of Leeds Bradford Airport next year

EasyJet is to cease flying from Leeds Bradford Airport early next year following a review of its routes from the Yorkshire airport.

The airline has confirmed it will stop operating flights from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) after January 5.

EasyJet currently offers routes from the airport to Barcelona, Paris, Belfast, Malaga, Mallorca and Geneva, but said it had decided to withdraw in order to concentrate on its most popular services elsewhere.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January.

“Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers.”

Passengers who have EasyJet bookings from Leeds Bradford beyond January 5 are being offered a free transfer onto flights from an alternative airport or a refund.

It is not yet clear whether all of the airline’s existing Leeds Bradford routes will continue operating until the January withdrawal.

EasyJet’s website currently shows no available flights from Leeds Bradford to Geneva, while services to Malaga and Mallorca appear to end after November.

Flights to Barcelona, Paris and Belfast still appear to be available through to January.

Leeds Bradford Airport said it had nothing further to add to EasyJet’s statement.

The decision will bring EasyJet’s operations at the airport to an end from January, removing six destinations from the airline’s Leeds Bradford network.
