“Dynamic” tech ecosystem set to open in West Cumbria

A new £50m enterprise campus is set to open in West Cumbria, designed to support the nuclear industry and critical regional sectors.

iSH Enterprise Campus in Cleator Moor aims to become a “dynamic ecosystem” bringing together emerging and established organisations, working across manufacturing and advanced technology.

“This is an exciting project that will harness a wide range of benefits and opportunities for the area going forward,” said Leader of Cumberland Council, Cllr Mark Fryer.

“I am very proud that the project has reached the stage where expressions of interest are being sought for the first industrial units on the site.”

The first two units are due to become available from Spring 2027.

It’s part of a wider regeneration programme being delivered across West Cumbria by iSH focused upon delivering economic growth opportunities around robotics, AI and advanced engineering and manufacturing.

The Industrial Solutions Hub (iSH) Enterprise Campus is led by Cumberland Council with funding and support from the Government’s Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, through Town Deal and Levelling Up programmes, and other strategic partners including the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Sellafield Ltd and Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

“It’s the first step in this development which will bring together businesses of all shapes and sizes, all with an ambition to deliver innovations which will benefit the local, regional and national economy,” stated Gary McKeating, Managing Director of iSH.

“As the site develops it will also make a big positive socio-economic impact across our communities.”
