Drummond Central promotes Appleby to Managing Director

Drummond Central

Newcastle creative and digital agency Drummond Central has promoted Dan Appleby to Managing Director as part of a major restructure of its senior team.

Appleby has been Head of Client Services at the agency – which placed 10th in the Prolific North top 50 integrated agencies list in 2018 –  for the last three years.

The agency has brought in Jonny Thornton from Mother, where he spent seven years as Business Director and ‘Head of Mothering’, to replace Appleby as Head of Client Services. The agency has employed a new Head of Planning, Neil Caffery who joins after a 20-year career developing strategic insight and strategy alongside creative agencies, insight houses and clients from across public, private and third sectors.

Appleby said: “These changes reflect the direction we know is right for the agency. We love nothing better than solving difficult business issues and challenges with our clients through creativity and technology.

“What’s really important is that all of our new people are focused on creating and delivering exceptional work. We’ve worked hard to identify and bring in talented individuals who will complement an already-strong team, and I am fired up by what the future holds for all of us at Drummond Central and our clients.”

Martin Shaw has also joined as Business Development Director from McCann Central, while Sharon Coull has taken on the role of Finance Director, having previously worked for Nestle, Group 4 and Sage.

The appointments coincide with new client wins for the agency including Greggs, DFDS, Riviera Travel, Visit Northumberland and Newcastle College, as well as the agency securing more work from long-term clients bet365, Northumbria University and Newcastle Building Society.
