Dotdigital, the leading marketing automation platform, has released its 10th edition of ‘Hitting the Mark’, its eCommerce report which covers the work of 100 global brands.

The report, released for Dotdigital’s 20th anniversary, finds that some brands are taking impressive steps to improve the customer experience but others were “falling at the last hurdle, unable to fully deliver on a customer-centric strategy.”

With new marketing challenges regularly raising their heads, the Dotdigital report looks at the tactics eCommerce brands should adopt to stay ahead of the game.

This will form a central part of Dotdigital’s talk at Digital City Expo (March 11th and 12th), where they will be speaking alongside a wide range of other influential names from tech, eCommerce and marketing. See the full agenda here.

Dotdigital is the Lead eCommerce Sponsor at the wider Digital City Festival, which the expo is a core part of. The festival starts on March 9th and will include a wide range of events celebrating the digital sector across Manchester.

Dotdigital’s findings in the report included that one-third of brands have adopted live chat; less than one in five have a truly omnichannel experience; and that customer loyalty is going unrewarded.

The data is based on the identification of 100 brands taken from across three continents and 12 countries. This 100 was then scored against a set of criteria including email practice, relevant content, post-purchase activity, and UX. Read the report in full here.

Ultimately, it was luxury retailer MatchesFashion that came out as Dotdigital’s number-one eCommerce platform, impressing with its data-driven automations.

Digital City Festival comes to Manchester next month. Its cornerstone will be the high-profile expo, which will bring together leading exhibitors and influential industry speakers at Manchester Central. The festival will also provide a range of fringe events celebrating digital across the city, and the official Digital City Awards.
