Dan Walker has expressed his gratitude to the NHS after being hit by a car while cycling.
The former BBC Breakfast and Football Focus host, and current presenter of 5 News, took to Twitter to reassure fans that although his “face is a mess” nothing appeared to broken, and also offered thanks to Shaun and Jamie, who we assume to be the two ambulance paramedics shown in the photo he shared, and the police officer who attended the scene.
Bit of an accident this morning.
Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene.

Sheffield resident Walker, a practicing Christian, attracted attention during his time on BBC Breakfast for his reports highlighting fringe Christian groups, which led some to question whether the presenter himself held similar beliefs and inspired the 2021 Spectator article by Dan Hitchens Dan Walker’s Creationism Shouldn’t Disqualify Him from Breakfast TV.
He is also the author of several books, most recently 2022’s Standing on the Shoulders: Incredible Heroes and How They Inspire Us.
