Production has begun in Yorkshire and London for a new Sky Original film, The Radleys.

Starring Damian Lewis alongside Kelly Macdonald and Shaun Parkes, it’s described as a “scarily relatable vampire thriller” adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by best-selling author Matt Haig.

Based in a quiet, suburban English town, Peter and Helen Radley (Lewis and Macdonald) appear to be an ordinary couple, however, they’re concealing a dark secret from their teenage children – they’re are abstaining vampires, choosing not to drink blood despite their natural cravings, yet becoming more and more bloodthirsty by the day.

A series of events force them to reveal the truth and cause their children, one of whom is a vegan, to question their own identity.

It’s at this point that Peter’s twin brother turns up. Peter, a proud practicing vampire, is also played by Damian Lewis.

“I’m very excited to watch Matt Haig’s The Radleys come alive on screen as it begins production with top British talent including Damian Lewis and Kelly Macdonald. Wickedly funny and darkly compelling, I’m so pleased to bring this film to Sky Cinema in 2024,” said Julia Stuart, Director of Original Film at Sky.

Produced by Genesius Pictures (Good Luck To You Leo Grande, Mrs Lowry and Son), it’s slated for release on Sky Cinema in 2024.

It was written by Talitha Stevenson (Late in Summer) and is being directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper, Dream Horse) and produced by Debbie Gray (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande).

“Delighted to be partnering again with the team at Sky Cinema on our adaptation of Matt Haig’s wonderful novel The Radleys. An exciting script to produce and a unique black comedy under Euros Lyn’s brilliant direction,” added Debbie Gray, Managing Director of Genesius Pictures.
