The account will be run from PHD’s Manchester office which employs 15 staff.

PHD will start handling the account later this month.

Figures for the value of the contract have not been disclosed but the latest figures supplied by industry body Nielsen show media expenditure of circa £1.5m.

Crown would also not disclose who the other agencies were but the ‘incumbent’ media agency was MEC’s Manchester operation.

Crown Paints, is currently owned by the Danish paint manufacturer Hempel.

Liz Hickson, marketing director of Crown Paints said “We’re looking forward to an effective partnership that will help us to drive continued growth within the sector.”
