Steve Coogan will preview the upcoming return of Alan Partridge to BBC One at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.

The writer and actor will appear at the Festival, which takes place from August 22 to 24, alongside Christine Langan, the CEO of his Baby Cow production company.

This Time With Alan Partridge (6x 30’) will see Partridge handed a career lifeline – the opportunity to stand in (temporarily) as co-host on This Time, a “heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth”.

Phil Edgar-Jones, advisory chair for the Edinburgh Festival, said: “As well as creating arguably the most enduring comic character in TV history in Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan is an acclaimed writer, producer and actor, and a truly inspirational figure in comedy.

“We are delighted that Steve will be joining us alongside Christine Langan for a glimpse into his career and the-inner workings of Baby Cow. It’ll be an hour of pure Knowing-Her-Knowing-Him joy.”

Brandon Riegg, the director of unscripted programming at Netflix, will also appear at the Festival to discuss the platform’s non-scripted content.

Festival director Lisa Campbell said: “As a festival we pride ourselves on giving delegates access to the most prominent creative voices in our industry. In our first Gamechanger session to be announced, the inspirational Netflix leads the way in the production of high-end content and this is sure to be a must-see session.”
