Asda has appointed Tom Hampson as its new Vice President of Marketing.
Hampson has been Marketing Director at B&Q for the last 3 years and previously held the same position at Mamas and Papas and itsu.
He spent almost 10 years at Sainsbury’s, including as its Head of New Business Marketing and Head of Brand Planning. Before joining B&Q he was interim Director of Loyalty and Insight at Morrisons.
At Asda he’ll report to Chief Customer Officer, Rachel Eyre, who said:
“Tom is an experienced and passionate Customer and Marketing leader who has led transformation and growth through Marketing with a number of major UK retailers.
“He brings deep expertise in customer insight, proposition development and team leadership and will play a pivotal role in driving the growth agenda for two powerhouse British brands.”

He will take up the role in June.
It comes as Asda has gone viral with its red basket Valentine’s Day dating promotion.
“Hundreds of thousands” of people have been engaging with the Yorkshire retailer after finding out that it was going to introduce special red shopping baskets on February 14 which singles can choose instead of the classic green ones to signal to others they’re “open to talk”.
One Facebook post alone has had more than 50,000 likes, comments and shares. A tie in with a social media content creator got 4m views on one Insta post alone.
