Bloom North remembers Northern media stalwart Paula Yeadon-Smith with 2024 charity selection

Female-focused media organisation Bloom North has announced a 2024 charity partnership with The Miscarriage Association, in memory of Northern media stalwart Paula Yeadon-Smith.

Yeadon-Smith was a well-known member of the Northern media scene, having worked on either in-house or on an agency basis at, among others, Havas, Lancaster University and, most recently, Reason Digital.

Following her own heartbreaking experience with miscarriage, and grappling with the insufficient support available, Paula dedicated herself to supporting others and wrote a book on the topic shortly before her sudden death last year. She frequently praised the Miscarriage Association for their invaluable resources, which led to Bloom North’s recently appointed co-presidents Olivia Waite and Sarah Fleming selecting the charity to honour her memory.

Miscarriage affects an estimated one-in-five pregnancies, and often leaves individuals feeling isolated or uncertain about where to turn. The Miscarriage Association offers crucial support and information to those affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, or molar pregnancy, reassuring them that they are there to help.

Alongside the new 2024 charity, Bloom North has also launched its 2024 mentor programme. Following a 31% growth in members in 2023, and a record-breaking number of mentorship applications which saw Bloom North match over 100 mentors and mentees, this year’s programme

provides an opportunity for individuals at any career stage to access a mentor who has trodden a similar path before them for invaluable, and often career-changing advice and support.

The programme welcomes applications from all backgrounds across media, creative, PR, digital, communications, and associated fields, both agency and client-side.

Bloom North will also be carrying on its usual programme of female-focused panel events, book club, workshops, networking, wellness events, ‘big walks,’ dedicated DE&I group and much more over the course of 2024.
