Better Placed moves to employee ownership

Better Placed

Digital, marketing, tech and sales recruiter Better Placed has completed its transition to become 100% employee owned.

The Better Placed Group, which is headquartered in Leeds, has offices in Manchester and London and includes the executive search practice bpesearch.

Founded in 2002, its clients include the Co-op, PZ Cussons, Greene King, Costa Coffee and First Direct.

Each of its 40 employees will take a share in the business through an employee ownership trust.

Founding Directors Simon Stephens, Andrew Gibson and Dean Bartle and the rest of the board will continue to run the business.

The company said employee ownership is a move that “ensures the long term future and success of the business”.

Founder Dean Bartle said: “Employee ownership is a fantastic boost for the business and has galvanised the employees through their ownership and the move has confirmed their development is primary to us.

“As we move into a post Covid world and build for the future, this gives greater clarity on our vision and the direction we want to take the business … as one, together and where challenges and rewards are enjoyed by all colleagues.”

Deb Oxley OBE,  Chief Executive of the EOA, said: “We congratulate Better Placed on putting the business in the hands of its people, which will not only help to sustain and grow its many client relationships, but also secure the values and independence of the business for the longer term.”

Bartle added: “These are exciting times for Better Placed and bpesearch and as we start on our own recruitment drive our Employee Ownership status will enable us to incentivise and build for the future in a way few other recruitment businesses are able to do.”
