Child healthcare platform, Xploro, has closed its first major American funding round and made its first US hire.
The Manchester company, founded by Corporation Pop’s Dom Raban, uses 3D AR technology to introduce young patients to hospital environments, staff and treatment processes.
The round was led by Comeback Capital, with University Hospitals Ventures and JumpStart Ventures (both through their joint Healthcare Collaboration Fund), and Rightside Capital Management.
Xploro stated that the funding represented a “significant step forward” in its US expansion.
“These are exciting times for Xploro. This funding is crucial for the company’s growth and means we can offer an improved product to healthcare providers and users,” explained Dom Raban, Xploro’s Founder and CEO.
“Clinicians will find more value in the back end and the kids that use it will benefit from better and more engaging content which will support their healthcare journey.”
The firm’s first US hire is Stefan Agamanolis, PhD [pictured], who joins as Chief Strategy Officer in Cleveland, Ohio.
A software engineer and interaction designer by background, he holds a PhD from MIT and spent the last 12 years at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio most recently as Chief Innovation Officer.
