Matchstick Creative wins B Corp certification

The Matchstick Creative team

Liverpool creative agency, Matchstick Creative, has announced its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a small-but-growing group of companies in the sector achieving the certification from B Lab.

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of governance, workers, community, environment and customers. The certification process requires applicants to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.

Matchstick Creative is now part of a community of 5,100 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 800 companies and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole. The company, which includes Liverpool’s Everyman and Playhouse theatres and the NHS among its clients, is one of only 54 marketing agencies in the UK to make the grade to date.

Ruth Hartnoll, Co-Founder and CEO of Matchstick Creative, says: “Becoming a B Corp was always on our agenda from the founding of Matchstick Creative and to reach this milestone four years into our journey as a purpose-driven creative agency means the world.”
