£400k+ debts as another Inc&Co firm is struck off

The company that ran the head office of Inc&Co, the Manchester-based investment group, has been officially wound up in the courts.

A Gazette notice was filed at Companies House yesterday (19 August) notifying anyone who is interested that “Inc (Mount Street) Ltd” has been struck off as of 12 August, despite a July 15 suspension of the strike off after an unnamed party objected.

The company had no named directors at the time of the notice, and its named person of significant control was Inc & Co Property Group Ltd. Its last accounts filed with Companies House, to the end of June 2023, listed debtors of £403,566.

Parent Inc&Co has historically owned companies and brands spanning retail, property, travel and sport technology and claimed sales of £150m at its height. Its portfolio has included the likes of Maker & Son, a luxury furniture business co-founded by the grandson of the late Habitat founder Sir Terence Conran, which is no longer affiliated with Inc & Co following a management buyout, fashion brand Studio PIA, sportstech Skylab and Baldwins Travel, a Kent-based chain of travel agents. It also built Manchester’s King Street Grooming from scratch.

The former bosses of Inc & Co, Scott Dylan, David Antrobus and Jack Mason (pictured), were all sentenced to prison time last November after the court found them guilty of “deliberate and planned flouting” of court orders imposed after they were accused of unlawfully “extracting” funds from Barclays bank accounts, although the judgement noted that Mason and Antrobus were not in the country. Dylan was taken into custody – the judgement said that Mason was in Spain at the time and Antrobus in Ireland.

Barclays Bank further alleges that they are the victims of a £13.7m theft, with action ongoing in that case.

Mason stood down as CEO at Inc&Co shortly after the hearing, saying at the time: “I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life, whatever that may bring. Right now, i’m having a long rest until the time is right to explore new opportunities and ventures.”

Inc&Co’s website can no longer be accessed.
