100 jobs as packaging giant invests in new Manchester base

Global packaging manufacturer, Max Fame Group, is to create around 100 jobs with a new base in Greater Manchester.

The $100m turnover company develops packaging solutions for products including electronics and cosmetics and will make an initial £1m investment in the Trafford site.

The 10 year lease on the logistics building at Carrington Gateway, marks its first major site outside of China, Vietnam and Thailand.

“Greater Manchester’s focus on low carbon initiatives, deep talent pool and ideal geographical location create excellent conditions for investment and entrepreneurship, making it the best choice and an important base for our global supply chain,” said David Hsieh President of Max Fame.

The company was supported by MIDAS, Greater Manchester’s Inward Investment Agency, which said that the investment is worth £6.8m GVA to the regional economy.

“Our existing expertise in advanced manufacturing and growing status as a hotbed for sustainable innovation is leading global leaders in their fields to build and expand in Greater Manchester,” explained Joe Manning, Managing Director at MIDAS.

“Max Fame is the perfect example of the positive impact of foreign inward investment in creating jobs and opportunities locally. MIDAS and the Manchester China Forum have worked closely with Max Fame to secure this investment.”

Teams from Max Fame have already visited the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre at the University of Manchester to see how the tech could be used by the packaging industry.
