BBC entertainment role for ITV’s Ashdown

bbcRachel Ashdown, a former head of entertainment at ITV Studios in Manchester has been appointed as new entertainment commissioning editor at the BBC.

Currently executive producer at Fresh One Productions, Ashdown developed an extensive career developed at ITV, with a string of credits to her name including An Audience With, Who Dares Sings, Stars In Their Eyes and Take That Come to Town.

She also executive produced Titanic: A Commemoration in Music and Film for BBC Two.

Ashdown told BBc publication Ariel that she is ‘thrilled to be joining the BBC and to be working with producers and development teams on a raft of new programmes’.

Ashdown specialises in studio entertainment, live events and formatted factual entertainment.

From her position in Manchester, she rose to deputy controller of entertainment, taking on responsibility for both London and Manchester productions.

She was also previously part of the commissioning team at UKTV
