I Love MCR, the independent publisher launched in the wake of the Manchester and Salford riots of 2011, has relaunched its app.
The new app gives members access to offers, experiences and events in the city, as well as rewards.
The organisation, which says it has 500,000 website visitors a month, also gives members the chance to donate to the We Love MCR charity.
I Love MCR CEO Chris Greenhalgh said he had learned lessons from a first version of the app.
“The first release contained exclusive offers only, which took up a lot of company admin time and warranted a paywall,” he said. “But not being able to see what’s on offer before committing to membership put people off. And quite rightly so.”
App users now have two membership options: free and VIP at £5 a month.
Wood restaurant, Beastro, Nuffield Health, All Star Lanes and INNSIDE Hotel are some of the businesses who have already signed up.
I Love MCR worked with an independent developer on the app. Greenhalgh added: “The new release is free to everyone, it’s easy to use and undeniably more aesthetically pleasing. Mancunians (and adopted Mancunians) will love it and, what’s more, I’m positive it will encourage donations to our sister charity.”
