Wakefield gamer’s shares soar on above-expectations trading update following one-day, one-million sales spurt for latest release

Shares in Wakefield video games developer everplay group (formerly Team17) hit a new 52-week high of 462p this morning after the company revealed in its latest trading update that it expects revenues and adjusted EBITDA for the FY 2026 financial year to be ahead of market expectations of £197.6m and £57.2m respectively.

In the trading update today, the business said that since the publication of its interim results, trading has continued to be “very strong.”

It said that both its Wardogs and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam video games continue to perform ahead of expectations, while back catalogue performance remains resilient.

Everplay added that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has recently exceeded one million copies sold across PC and console while Wardogs has sold approximately three million copies in Early Access on PC – a figure the multiplayer first-person shooter cleared on day one of release earlier this month.

In its unaudited results for the six months ended 30 June 2026, the business recorded group revenue of £66.9m, down eight per cent (H1 2025: £72.4m), or five per cent excluding the impact of its exit from Astragon’s low-margin physical distribution activities.

It also reported pre-tax profits of £1.6m, down 89 per cent from £14.3m.

Mikkel Weider, group CEO of everplay, said on release of the HY results: “Our back catalogue posted another resilient performance in a half in which there were no major new releases, underpinning the solid foundations upon which everplay is built.

“At the same time, the teams have been laser focused on preparing for our key releases in the second half. We have entered the period with real momentum, and feel confident in materially exceeding market expectations for the full year.

“I am pleased to share that our major new releases, including Hell Let Loose: Vietnam and Wardogs, are performing well ahead of our expectations, breaking many sales and player number records. I am also delighted to say that we have exercised our option to increase our shareholding in Super Media Group, owners of Bulkhead – the team behind Wardogs. We have long admired this team, and we are thrilled to further strengthen our relationship and support them on their journey.

“I’d really like to thank everyone at everplay and our partners for their hard work and dedication so far this year, and welcome everyone who has joined the group, including Jon Rissik as chief growth officer. With a strong balance sheet, resilient catalogue, growing portfolio of first-party IP and innovative third-party games, we are well positioned to deliver accelerated growth.”
