Team17 Group no more as listed games developer rebrands

Yorkshire headquartered Team17 Group has announced today that it’s rebranding as everplay group plc.

Steve Bell, CEO of the indie games developer and publisher, explained that the move was to mark “an evolution” of the business since it became a PLC back in 2018.

He added that the name “better represents our business which has evolved greatly since the IPO and reflects our DNA to never stop playing.

“This rebrand not only creates an ideal backdrop to foster greater cross-collaboration internally, but also reflects our aspirations to expand our reach across complementary sectors within the broader indie market.

“Fundamentally, we want to create pioneering and captivating experiences that enrich and inspire players around the world, and I firmly believe everplay will become synonymous with creating games that deliver a lifetime of play.”

Since its IPO, it’s undertaken a series of acquisitions of both gaming studios and IP – such as Golf With Your Friends and Hell Let Loose. It’s also separated into 3 – Team17, StoryToys and astragon, which will continue to operate under their own distinctive brand identities.

Bell himself joined the Wakefield group in September 2023, officially taking up the CEO role exactly a year ago.

Today’s news coincides with a Trading Update for the 12 months to 31st December.

The group said that it expected to deliver results slightly ahead of market expectations, with strong performance from its new releases and good Christmas trading period.

“I am delighted with the strong end to the year’s trading, and the momentum into 2025, which is further evidence of the success of our refocused strategic initiatives,” continued Bell.

“I am grateful for the dedication of all our employees, whose continuing hard work has helped grow our revenues in 2024 to another all-time high. I look forward to sharing greater insight into our exciting plans for 2025 at the full year results in March.”

Trading in the Company’s shares under the new “EVPL” name will start from Friday.
