Crews return to shoot second series of Grand Island Hotel

Filming is underway on the remote Scottish island of Ulva, for a second series of Banjo and Ro’s Grand Island Hotel.

The debut outing, which saw interior designer Banjo Beale and his partner Ro start to turn a derelict mansion into a boutique hotel, was one of the Top 10 lifestyle titles on the BBC iPlayer in 2026.

Glasgow’s Hello Halo will produce the new 6 x 60 minute series, as the pair take the next steps to completing the renovation.

“We’re so excited to be back. We blew our budget last year so this time around we’re really getting creative,” said Banjo Beale.

“The plans are bigger, and so is our family. As we continue the ambitious restoration of Ulva House, we’ll be welcoming new puppies, peacocks, a llama and plenty of drama. Life on a remote island is never straightforward, but that’s exactly what makes it such an adventure. There’ll be big dreams, bigger builds, hard work, lots of laughs and, you can bet, a few mishaps along the way.”

It is a co-commission between BBC Scotland BBC Factual Entertainment

“Audiences adored being part of Banjo and Ro’s renovation story and we’re delighted to jump on the boat and revisit Ulva once again for more Grand Island Hotel adventures. Although they faced their fair share of challenges, their vision was irresistible to watch and they warmly welcomed audiences across the country into their home,” explained Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning, BBC Scotland.

The Executive Producers are Wendy Rattray and Joff Wilson for Hello Halo, with Jo Sharpe directing and producing.

“We were thrilled that audiences fell in love with Banjo, Ro and life on the island,” said Rattray.

“This time, as they work to turn their dream into a reality, they’re faced with some unexpected challenges, including a health scare that forces Ro to slow down and rethink how he works. Thankfully, Banjo remains firmly in post as Chief Imagination Officer, while new arrival Cousin Jerry brings a fresh dose of chaos to island life.”

The series is expected to air on BBC iPlayer, BBC Scotland and BBC Two in 2027.
