Regular The Rest is Football hosts and former Match of the Day trio Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards will be joined on Netflix’s forthcoming World Cup edition of their show by regular guest Joe Cole, alongside a standout lineup of special guests including Harry Maguire, Frank Lampard, Millie Bright, Patrick Vieira, Romesh Ranganathan and Niall Horan, with more to come, the streamer has announced.
For fans that are up with the birds, the show will land daily at 6am UK on the streaming platform – ideally timed for the previous day’s action finishing in the US, Mexico and Canada, though less so for those who like a lie-in.
The team will also be joined by roving reporters Rob Jones and Alex Aljoe. Jones will report directly from the England camp and fan zones, while Aljoe will follow teams from across the tournament, bringing fans closer to the biggest stories.

Filmed in Times Square, New York, the show will feature expert match analysis, special guests, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access from the world’s biggest sporting event.
Shearer said: “The World Cup is as big as it gets, and bringing The Rest Is Football to Netflix during the tournament is a brilliant opportunity to get stuck into the football properly. There’ll be huge performances, big decisions, pressure moments and plenty for supporters to debate – exactly what we love talking about.”
His co-host Micah Richards added: “I’m absolutely buzzing for this. World Cup, Netflix, New York and The Rest Is Football on a massive stage – what more could you want? It’s going to have everything people love about the show: proper analysis, big opinions, dressing-room stories and, knowing us, plenty of laughs as well.”
The Rest Is Football is one of the world’s biggest sports podcasts, with over 7 million monthly streams, and is produced by Lineker’s Goalhanger Productions (The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Politics). Streamer Netflix currently has over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films, and games across a wide variety of genres and languages.
