Betfred gambles on £2m Triple Crown bonus

Manchester bookie Betfred, now the sponsor of all five British Horse Racing Classics, is once again offering a £2 million Triple Crown bonus for the 2026 season.

The bookmaker will pay the bonus to connections of any horse who can win the Betfred 2000 Guineas, the Betfred Derby and the Betfred St Leger.

This feat has been achieved on fifteen occasions, but none since the legendary Nijinksy in 1970, although Camelot was less than a length away from achieving the feat in 2012.

Betfred became the first company to sponsor all five of Horse Racing’s flagship events last year and will do so again in 2026, starting with the Betfred 2000 Guineas and Betfred 1000 Guineas at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May.

The Betfred Oaks and The Betfred Derby will take place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June at Epsom Downs and the historic 250th Betfred St Leger will be run at Doncaster racecourse on Saturday 12th September

Betfred founder Fred Done said “It was an honour last year to be the first company in history to sponsor all five British Classics and I can’t wait to do it all again this year.

“That is why I am offering the £2million Triple Crown bonus again. Nijinsky was undoubtedly one of the greats and it is about time we had another Triple Crown winner to celebrate. Can another horse rise to the occasion, make history, and do it again?”

Betfred began life as a single betting shop in Ordsall, Salford, in 1967, famously established with capital made from a winning bet founder Fred Done placed on England to win the 1966 World Cup. The firm operates around 1,350 physical shops as well as a huge, Gibraltar-registered online gaming site. Its sponsorship deals include Rugby’s Superleague and World Matchplay Darts, as well as serving as Manchester United‘s official betting partner. Its turnover sits around the £10 billion mark and it has its head office in Birchwood, Warrington, as well as offices in Media City, Salford.
