North East International Film Festival appoints PR agency

MCPR, the strategic communications partnership between Marriott Communications and CgPR, has been appointed to lead public relations and communications for the North East International Film Festival (NEIFF) 2026.

Building on the successful campaign for the 2025 festival, which saw over 90 million total views, MCPR will deliver a comprehensive PR strategy designed to elevate NEIFF’s regional, national and international profile further, positioning the festival as a leading platform for independent film and emerging talent.

The North East International Film Festival has rapidly established itself as a key cultural event in the UK’s film calendar, attracting filmmakers, industry professionals and audiences from across the globe. The 2026 edition will boost this momentum, with an expanded programme, increased industry engagement, and a renewed focus on global reach.

MCPR will lead all aspects of communications, positioning the festival firmly on the international stage alongside other industry recognised events to help attract high-calibre filmmakers and partners, and drive audience growth.

Samuel Marriott-Dowding, co-founder of MCPR, said: “NEIFF is one of the most exciting and ambitious cultural platforms in the North East. We’ve seen first-hand the impact it can have – not just for filmmakers, but for the region as a whole.

Fellow con-founder Chrissie Pringle added: “The festival has a powerful story to tell and we’re looking forward to building on the success of last year ensuring NEIFF is a must-attend fixture within the global film festival calendar.”

The NEIFF is a Community Interest Company (CIC), which is entirely volunteer-led. The festival has screened Oscar and BAFTA-winning and qualifying work and includes one-off special screenings of award-winning films with cast and crew Q&A’s, VIP networking events, free, educational, film related workshops and courses delivered by industry professionals and screenings of finalist films. The festival culminates in a Closing Awards Gala.

The 2026 festival will take place across key venues in the North East, bringing together a dynamic programme of screenings, industry events, and community engagement.

MCPR’s appointment marks a significant step in NEIFF’s continued growth, with strategic communications, playing a central role in shaping its next chapter.
