This morning, Screen Yorkshire has announced a new Chair and Board appointments.
Andrew Sheldon, the co-founder of Leeds indie, True North has been named as Chair, as John Surtees steps down after 14 years in position.
Sheldon has spent 30 years in the region’s television sector and played a key role in securing Channel 4’s move to the county in 2018.
Little Dot Studios’ Chief Revenue Officer, Wayne Davison, has also joined the organisation as a Board member. This is seen as a key appointment for Screen Yorkshire, given his work leading digital-first content strategy and distribution, platform and audience development and monetisation at the firm.

“These appointments come at a pivotal time for the screen sector. Andrew’s experience across production and regional industry development, combined with Wayne’s expertise in digital strategy and platform-led growth, will be instrumental as we continue to adapt to rapid shifts in how screen media is financed, produced and distributed,” explained Caroline Cooper Charles, Chief Executive of Screen Yorkshire.
“As new technologies, changing audience behaviours and global market dynamics reshape the industry, it’s critical that we remain agile. Strengthening our board in this way ensures we are well positioned to support producers and talent across the region, while also future proofing the organisation for the next phase of industry change.
“All our thanks go to John Surtees for his outstanding contribution during his time as Chair, leading us to the strong position we find ourselves in now.”
Screen Yorkshire drives the screen industries in Yorkshire and Humber. It also facilitates the Yorkshire Content Fund, which provides production finance to encourage productions to shoot in the region.
