Former Match of the Day Host Gary Lineker, his Goalhanger Productions label, and his The Rest is Football co-hosts today launch a brand new weekly series, Premier League Greats: The Moments That Made Them, following Goalhanger’s securing of worldwide rights to feature Premier League action from every season since its inauguration in 1992 through to May 2025.
Releasing every Wednesday until the end of the season, Premier League Greats focuses on one Premier League legend per episode. Each instalment revisits five defining matches from that player’s career – the moments that shaped them, defined their legacy, and helped make Premier League history.
Across each episode, hosts Gary Lineker and his regular co-hosts (and still Match of the Day hosts) Newcastle Utd legend Alan Shearer and former Man City defender Micah Richards break down why each match truly mattered, what it revealed about the player at that moment in their career, and share personal stories and first-hand insight from their own time spent with the players.

Episode one launches today, Wednesday 7 January, and focuses on the very best moments of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. For the first time, viewers watching on Spotify Video or YouTube and across The Rest Is Football social channels will be able to see the match footage as those moments are discussed on screen. Audio listeners will still receive the full episode as usual.
Future episodes are planned looking at the careers of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane & Cristiano Ronaldo.
The series will sit alongside the regular The Rest Is Football feed, complementing its ongoing weekly episodes.
One of the world’s biggest sports podcasts, The Rest Is Football reaches more than seven million downloads a month and has also announced it will launch as a daily TV show on Netflix during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Last summer, football action was added to The Rest Is Football for the first time after licensing all goals and key highlights from the FIFA Club World Cup. This season, coverage has expanded further with LaLiga, featuring match action from Spain, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Goalhanger is the UK’s largest independent podcast producer and the biggest outside the US.
