His meticulous investigation in 2011 first exposed the national scandal of grooming gangs – and the failure of the authorities to protect their victims. The impact of that work still endures today

The Prime Minister said his work was “absolutely integral” to changing the law. While Yorkshire Post Editor, James Mitchinson added:

“Given the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, is leading the tributes to Andrew, I think it is fair to say he was no ordinary reporter.

“He was an extraordinary journalist, a titan of our trade.”

The announcement of the Andrew Norfolk Investigative Journalism Award was made at his memorial service at St Bride’s Church in London’s Fleet Street.

“It was a privilege to work with Andrew on so many of his investigations and to be reminded, every time, that tenacious public-interest journalism serves the readers who put their trust in us. This award is a testament to Andrew’s legacy and I know he would be quietly, but immensely, proud,” stated Jeremy Griffin, Executive Editor of The Times.
