Colson Smith is to present a new BBC Local Radio show across Leeds, York and Sheffield.
The actor, best known for his role as Craig Tinker in Coronation Street is a proud Yorkshireman and will host the 10am-2pm show every Saturday from tomorrow.
“I’m so honoured to be able to join BBC Local Radio in Leeds,” he explained.
“While many know me from my time in Weatherfield on the telly – Yorkshire is where I grew up, and it still holds a special place in my heart. To be able to entertain communities from across this fantastic region is a dream come true – and I can’t wait for listeners to tune in!”

It was revealed that Smith would be leaving Corrie earlier this year, having first appeared on the famous cobbles in 2011, at the time he said he “loved every single second” of his 14 years as a “resident on the greatest street in the world.”
Nick Ahad, who currently presents Saturdays, will now host a Sunday Daytime Show, which will also air across BBC Radio Leeds, York and Sheffield.
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Colson to the BBC Radio Leeds family. He’s Yorkshire though-and-through – and his energy and passion for storytelling means he has some brilliant things planned for audiences,” said Simon Monk, Executive Editor for BBC Radio Leeds.
“I’m also excited that Nick Ahad will continue to bring his signature warmth and insight to Sunday daytimes across BBC Radio in Yorkshire. Weekend daytime listeners are in for a treat!”
The changes take place this weekend.
