York-based boxxe has acquired CAE Technology in Warrington, for an undisclosed sum.
The IT services and solutions provider says it was a “rare opportunity” to buy one of the UK’s leading Cisco partners. CAE specialise in networking and security, working with clients including Dominos and Coop.
“I have followed CAE for many years and continue to be impressed by the organisation’s market-leading practices in networking, security, and cloud infrastructure,” explained Phil Doye, who bought boxxe in 2019.
“CAE sets itself apart from the competition with its focus on customer outcomes driven by innovative solutions and managed services. CAE Labs is a great example of this, adding in- house software development capability to enable customers to further transform their IT environments. boxxe has to deliver technology solutions that solve critical business challenges and propel our customers forward. This strategic acquisition enables us to do this more effectively. boxxe’s scale and broad portfolio of products and solutions will also bring greater value and relevance to CAE’s many customers.”

Doye said that the deal would strengthen the company’s position as one of the UK’s largest providers of software, solutions and services to both the public and private sector.
“We have known Phil since his time at Kelway and once we had decided to sell the business, we approached boxxe knowing that it would be a place where CAE could develop in this next chapter,” added Justin Harling, CEO at CAE.
Following the acquisition, Harling has resigned from the company, with Doye becoming Group CEO and Hazel Sagar Group CFO.
CAE Technology Services Limited will continue to trade independently before being integrated into Boxxe Limited within the next twelve months.
Reed Smith and BDO acted as advisors for boxxe on the transaction.
