Emmerdale and Coronation Street schedules disrupted as episodes pulled next week

ITV’s flagship soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will see their broadcast schedules disrupted next week due to sports coverage.

As the Summer of Sport ramps up, both programmes will move from their usual slots to accommodate football and Wimbledon coverage across BBC and ITV.

Here’s how the schedules look for the week commencing 30 June. Coronation Street will air on Monday, 30 June – 8-9pm, Wednesday, 2 July – 8-9pm and no episode on Friday, 4 July. Emmerdale will air on Monday, 30 June – 7:30-8pm, Tuesday, 1 July – 7-8pm, Wednesday, 2 July – 7:30-8pm but there will be no episodes on Thursday or Friday.

EastEnders, meanwhile, shifts to BBC Two for the week, airing double episodes on Monday and Tuesday from 7-8pm, with no episodes scheduled for the rest of the week.

The changes come as BBC One prioritises Wimbledon and UEFA Women’s Euro coverage, while ITV airs Spain v Portugal on Thursday and Germany v Poland on Friday.

In Coronation Street, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) finds herself torn between the Webster brothers, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) grows concerned about Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) relationship, and Gary Windass (Mikey North) remains missing.

Emmerdale introduces two new characters, Celia (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray (Joe Absolom). Celia becomes central to a dramatic plot when Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) is attacked by one of her dogs. Meanwhile, Ray turns up at Butlers to confront Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), Ross Barton (Michael Parr), and Lewis (Bradley Riches) over their secret cannabis grow in a barn.
