Gary Lineker has agreed a deal that will see him present highlights of this summer’s Club World Cup on his The Rest is Football podcast, just a few days after leaving the BBC.
The former Match of the Day host been expected to continue presenting coverage of the men’s FA Cup and World Cup on the BBC until next year after stepping down from his regular Saturday gig at the end of ths season, but confirmed his departure last week after an antisemitism row over a social media post.
Now, it has been confirmed that Lineker’s podcast, The Rest Is Football, produced by own Goalhanger Productions, has agreed a deal with Leeds-based streamer DAZN that will see it broadcast match footage from the Club World Cup, with Lineker set to present the highlights show, according to the Telegraph.
DAZN, the global broadcast rights holders for this summer’s 32-team tournament, has also signed a deal with Channel 5 for free-to-air rights for selected games, and confirmed that the best moments from games will be shown on The Rest is Football and the video version of the podcast.

The FIFA Club World Cup takes place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States and brings together 32 of the most successful club sides from 20 countries and each of the six international football confederations. Clubs competing in the tournament include Chelsea and Manchester City from the UK; Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich amongst other European clubs and international clubs such as Inter Miami and Boca Juniors.
