Yorkshire Building Society returns following decade-long ad absence

Yorkshire Building Society is launching a new brand advertising campaign that puts the focus firmly on the emotional reality behind people’s financial decisions, celebrating the life moments that shape our futures and the role of a trusted partner in supporting them.

Rolling out across TV, digital, video-on-demand (VOD) and social media, the campaign, “Here for every stage”, has been developed by the society’s in-house creative team and produced by Leeds-based Media Mavericks.

At its heart is a simple but powerful idea: that financial decisions are rarely just about money: They’re about people, relationships, and the futures we’re trying to build for those we love.

The campaign brings this to life through a moving narrative that follows one person’s journey from childhood through to adulthood and starting a family, capturing key moments along the way, from school plays and teenage ambitions to buying a first home and preparing for the next generation. Set within a theatre, the story unfolds as a series of life stages played out on a single stage, reinforcing the idea that these experiences are shared, universal and deeply human.

Filmed on location at Yeadon Town Hall, society colleagues appeared as extras in the audience scenes, to deliver an authentic, human touch.

Jodie Madden, director of brand and marketing at Yorkshire Building Society said: “Financial decisions are some of the most important moments in people’s lives, but they’re rarely just about finances. They’re about the people we care about and the futures we’re trying to create for them.

“With ‘Here for every stage’, we wanted to tell a story that truly reflects that reality. It’s about recognising the pressures, the pride and the responsibility people feel as they move through life, and showing that for 160 years we’ve been right there alongside them, not just with products, but with understanding, support and expertise when it matters most.

“That really resonated with me personally during filming. Sitting in the audience at Yeadon Town Hall, knowing my five-year-old daughter will soon be dancing on that same stage, I couldn’t help but think about all the life stages still ahead of her. It brought home just how much of parenting is about quietly preparing for those moments – not just emotionally, but financially too.

“This is also our first TV campaign in a decade, and it feels fitting that it’s been a true Yorkshire effort from start to finish. Our creative team have worked hard to show Yorkshire Building Society as a partner that understands our members’ lives, not just their money.”

Produced in partnership with Media Mavericks, the creative execution was designed to feel both distinctive and universal – using the theatre as a metaphor for life’s unfolding chapters.

Harry Adamson, director at Media Mavericks added: “What makes this campaign stand out is the strength of the message at its core. It’s not about products or features – it’s about real life, and the moments that matter to people. The theatre setting allowed us to bring those stages to life in a simple but visually powerful way, while keeping the focus on the emotional journey. It’s been a brilliant collaboration to help tell that story in a way that feels authentic and relatable.”

Launching across the UK from 3rd August, “Here for every stage” marks a significant step in Yorkshire Building Society’s move towards more brand-led storytelling.
