A beloved Coronation Street star is counting his blessings after an incredible soap reunion 18 years in the making.
Tony Maudsley, who plays lovable funeral director George Shuttleworth, has been reunited with two of his former co-stars from The Royal after they all landed roles on the cobbles to bring them back on screen together.
Tony, who is currently embroiled in Weatherfield life with partner Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), was thrilled when his real-life pal Amy Robbins joined the show as Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) long-lost mum, Christina. But the reunion didn’t stop there after fellow The Royal star Natalie Anderson has also stepped onto the Street, playing Danielle, the unsuspecting partner of Theo (James Cartwright).

For fans of early 2000s ITV drama it is the ultimate nostalgia trip. The trio starred together in The Royal, the Heartbeat spin-off set in the fictional seaside town of Elsinby. Now, nearly two decades later, they’re sharing the screen again – this time in the nation’s most famous soap.
Tony couldn’t contain his excitement, sharing a snap of the three on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “‘When shall we three meet again?’ The last time we were all together was 18 years ago on The Royal. So lovely to now be having a little reunion on the cobbles. #Corrie with Amy Robbins & Natalie Anderson.”

Natalie, who’s no stranger to soaps (she played Alicia Gallagher in Emmerdale), is already making waves as Danielle. Her character is set for drama, given Theo’s secret fling with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). But off-screen, she’s overjoyed to be part of the Corrie family.
“I’m delighted and honoured to be stepping on to the cobbles,” she said. “Coronation Street is an institution—especially if you’re a northerner like me, it’s part of the fabric of our upbringing. I’m not going to lie, I did have a little tear when I started as I felt an immense sense of pride walking around the sets where so many incredible actors and characters have gone before.”
