Newsquest appoints local journo as new Lancashire Life editor

Newsquest, a leading local media group, has appointed Chantelle Dietz as editor of Lancashire Life Magazine.

Dietz brings a wealth of experience in magazine publishing having previously worked as managing editor of property lifestyle magazine Property Hub, where she oversaw the mag’s transition from quarterly to bi-monthly, and as editor of YQ North West magazine, where she spent almost three years. She has also held roles as associate editor at leading B2B publisher Haymarket Media Group, and as property editor at Insider Media.

A proud alumna of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), Dietz was part of the first cohort to complete a master’s in magazine journalism, where she learned the ins and outs of magazine publishing, from crafting great content to bringing a magazine to life.

Lee Taylor-Craddock, commercial director for Newsquest North West, said: “Chantelle’s expertise, creative vision and deep connection to the county make her the perfect fit for Lancashire Life. We are excited to see how her leadership will shape the magazine’s future while celebrating the people, places and culture that define the region.”

Dietz added: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Lancashire Life as editor. Having grown up in Lancashire, the magazine has always held a special place in my heart. I’m excited to work with such a talented team and to continue telling the stories that matter most to our readers.”

Lancashire Life is a British monthly regional magazine, first published in 1947, devoted to the English county palatine of Lancashire. It covers lifestyle topics including motoring, property, food, art and everyday life in the county. In 2015 it was awarded a Prolific North Award in the magazines category (remember those days?) seeing off stiff competition from Barmcake, Cheshire Life, Cumbria Life, Dalesman Magazine, Great Places Housing Group’s My Great Place, and The Westmorland Gazette’s Limited Edition.

Although, in common with most print publications in the digital age, the magazine has seen its circulation drop from the halcyon days of 2006, when its ABC audit reported a near-164,000 monthly readership, the mag still claims a respectable print readership of just over 28,000 every month, as well as almost 50,000 monthly digital visitors.

Lancashire Life became part of the Newsquest stable in 2022 when the publisher acquired Archant, also publisher of numerous nationwide ‘XXX Life’ titles including Cheshire and Yorkshire, for an undisclosed sum.
