Bauer Radio has made two senior appointments, following the revamp of its Place portfolio.

Maxwell Smalley will be content controller for Place 3, while James Grove will have the same role for Place 2.

Places 2 and 3 are regional brand extensions, intended to widen the radio stations’ listening demographic. Place 2 (eg Radio City 2, broadcast on AM) is aimed at 45-65 year olds, while Place 3 (Radio City 3 on digital) is targeted at 15-25 year olds.

Smalley joins from The Hits Radio network, while Grove is currently deputy content and music director at Gold 104 in Melbourne.

“Both the guys are extremely talented programmers and have the perfect credentials to help create market changing content in their respective roles,” said group content director, Bauer Place north of England and Scotland, Owen Ryan.

They will start on January 5th and report directly to Mike Cass, the regional content director for Place 2 and 3.
