ITV Studios Entertainment Manchester is bringing World of Sport Wrestling back to ITV, for a 10 part series.

It’s teamed up with Anthem Sports and Entertainment Corp, the parent company of Impact Wrestling and will be filming events the Preston Guild Hall in May.

The commission comes following a one-off special which aired on New Year’s Eve.

“Britain’s wrestling scene is thriving and there has never been a better time to bring it back to ITV after a gap of 30 years,” said Tom Mclennan, director of entertainment, ITV Studios Manchester.

World Of Sport was an institution in its own right, launched in the 60’s as a rival to Grandstand, it was variously hosted by Eammon Andrews, Dickie Davies, Fred Dineage and Jim Rosenthal. It was axed in the mid 1980s.

A launch event will take place on Monday (27 March) in Manchester.

ITV Studios will co-produce the new 10-part WOS series with Anthem. The Executive producers for ITV Studios are Tom Mclennan and Simon Marsh.
