What are the best paid jobs in esports and gaming?

With the gaming industry forecast to be worth £165bn this year, a new survey has been released looking at careers in the sector.

PlayOjo found that the highest paid career option in gaming was Senior Game Designer, a role with an average salary of £36k. That’s unless you move to North America, with the same role earning £65k.

The top 5 jobs, based on salary, after senior Game Designer, are Brand Manager, Product Manager, Mobile Engineer and Game Producer.

The UK games industry is globally the 6th best payer, with United States, Denmark and Germany the Top 3. Second placed Denmark is has carved out a position as one of the biggest esports markets globally and is the most dominant country in Europe.

That’s also reflected in the pay of players, with Denmark offering the second highest salaries  (£21.2k), that’s still behind China (£27.1k). However, much of the players’ income is derived from sponsorship and winnings, which would be in addition to these annual salaries.

East Asia dominates this, with China’s combined winnings at £163.25m and South Korea £95.1m.

The UK figure is £25.36 million, which is in line with other countries like France, Germany and Sweden.
