Ghost Stories, the supernatural thriller starring Paul Whitehouse and Martin Freeman is to get its UK release next month.

The original stage production of the show broke box office records when it opened at the Liverpool Playhouse and Lyric Hammersmith, before it toured around the world.

The play was co-written and directed by Andy Nyman (The Commuter, Severance). He also co-wrote the screen version, alongside The League of Gentlemen’s Jeremy Dyson, who also directs.

The story is about Professor Phillip Goodman (Nyman), a psychologist and arch-sceptic, who has his rationality tested to the hilt when he stumbles across a long lost file containing details of three cases of terrifying ‘hauntings’. Shaken by what he has read, Goodman embarks upon a quest to find rational explanations for these stories.

Produced by Warp Films, with investment from Screen Yorkshire, it filmed on location in the county, including Leeds, Saltaire, Harewood Estate, Harrogate and Hornsea.

Ghost Stories was made by Warp Films and produced by Claire Jones and Robin Gutch.

It will be released in the UK on 6th April.
