WANdisco no more with Cirata rebrand

Sheffield tech firm WANdisco is hoping to put some of its recent history behind it as it rebrands as Cirata plc.

The listed company, which has been the centre of a financial scandal, made the announcement during its Annual General Meeting.

“It’s time to focus our collective attention on the future and do everything we can to help drive the growth plan forward,” said Stephen Kelly, CEO.

“Renaming and rebranding the Company is one step in that journey and we’re excited to build Cirata into a category leader”.

In a statement, the firm explained that the rename was part of a “broad and extensive rebranding program that best reflects the updated Company vision, values and future growth plans.”

It added that Cirata was a combination of “cirrus cloud” and “data” and was intended to provide a “new and positive canvas where the Company can build positive brand equity going forward.”

The Sheffield group will be hoping to turn a corner after a difficult 5 months, which saw its shares suspended from trading, following “potentially fraudulent” activities, which were later narrowed down to one “senior sales employee.”

In July it returned to trading on AIM following a £24m fundraise and earlier this month it signed a $400k data contract with General Motors.
