A campaign launches today, to bring more people into Sheffield city centre after 5pm.

Created by We Are for the Sheffield Business Improvement District (BID), Alive After Five will raise awareness about early evening offers and extended shop opening times.

“We’re immensely proud of our home city and big advocates of the city centre itself, so when we were awarded the opportunity to address a challenge so close to home, we jumped at the chance,” explained Andy Weir, We Are’s managing director.

“As Sheffielders, we’re invested in the city and we want to help it realise its potential.”

Centred around behavioural change, the printed and digital communications will ask people not to rush home after work and instead see what’s happening in the city centre.

A website sheffafter5.com will contain offers on food and drink and information about shopping and cultural events.

In the long term – over the next 4 years – the campaign will turn towards businesses, in the hope of rejuvenating the city centre’s early evening economy.

The website and social media channels will be managed by partner agency Content on Demand.
