“The series is a little bat sh*t for sure” – Dead Hot released today

A new Liverpool comedy-thriller premieres today on Prime Video.

Dead Hot has been written by Charlotte Coben and produced by Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions.

“Dead Hot is a rollercoaster, there are so many stories and so many hooks that the audience won’t be expecting,” said Shindler.

“I hope people fall in love with these characters as much as we have.”

Filmed and set in Liverpool, the 6-part show explores “family, class, love, trauma, and identity.”

Bilal Hasna (Extraordinary, Layla) and BAFTA-nominated Vivian Oparah (Rye Lane, Then You Run, I May Destroy You) take the leads as protagonists Elliot and Jess, “navigating the highs and lows, and complexities of their mid-twenties.”

Penelope Wilton plays Francine, Elliot’s extremely wealthy, traditional and bigoted grandmother (Downton Abbey, After Life) and Peter Serafinowicz (The School for Good and Evil, The Tick) has been cast as Detective Chief Inspector Danny.

“The show is about grief ultimately but rendered through a crazy, colourful, camp, hyper poppy world that Charlotte has written. It’s a joy to be a part of and can’t wait for people to see it!” said Hasna, who plays Elliot.

Further cast includes Rosie Cavaliero (Funny Woman), Rebekah Murrell (The Pact), Alan Turkington (Heartstopper), Brandon Fellows (The Stranger) and rising star Marcus Hodson.

“I have a particular tone of voice that I write in, and I have never felt it be represented so accurately thanks to Sam Arbor (Director of eps 1-3), Laurie Kirkham (Producer) and the rest of the team,” added Creator and writer Charlotte Coben.

“The series is a little bat sh*t for sure and I hope people enjoy it – it’s a lot of fun!”

Manchester-based Quay Street Productions is part of ITV Studios.
