After nearly 80 years, the Teesside Gazette is moving from its Borough Road home in Middlesbrough to a brand new location in the town.

The Gazette will take up residence in Hudson Quay, which is located in the “up-and-coming” Middlehaven district. Its current offices have been purchased by Teesside University.

“We’re genuinely excited about the move to Hudson Quay,” said the Gazette’s managing director Bob Cuffe.

“We’ll be right in the heart of the ongoing regeneration of Middlesbrough, next to BoHo, Middlesbrough College, Temenos, the Riverside Stadium, and, hopefully, The Snow Dome. Just as importantly we’re delighted that Teesside University- our closest partner- has bought our much loved home and have exciting plans for it.”

Malcolm Page, chief operating officer for Teeside University, said: “The Gazette’s decision to relocate is an excellent opportunity for us to continue to develop Teesside University as one of the best study environments in the country.

Middlesbrough Mayor, Dave Budd added, “It’s fantastic that one of Teesside’s most iconic organisations – The Gazette – has chosen to relocate to Middlehaven. Middlesbrough is transforming, with new investments and developments coming through.

The Gazette brand has been a part of Teesside life since 1869 and hopes to complete the move by the middle of April. The paper will continue to be printed at its locally based press site.
