Leeds welcomes a new addition to its creative scene with the launch of Mood Films, an independent production company founded by Louis Jones and Jeanine Guerida.
The duo’s journey began in 2017 at the BFI Film Academy, facilitated by Access Moving Image and Leeds Film, where Louis was a student and Jeanine a mentor. The connection formed during the programme later evolved into a business partnership, giving rise to Mood Films.
Louis began his career in videography shortly after leaving college, freelancing at weddings and events before transitioning into lighting roles as a spark and gaffer. Working across the music industry, TV, and commercials, he honed his expertise in lighting. Over time, he used the knowledge gained in the lighting department to further progress his camera work, steadily building a reputation as a skilled director of photography, most recently working on music videos and commercials for brands such as Leeds United and Adidas.
Jeanine built her production expertise in-house at agencies such as Sodium Films, Ride Shotgun, and Hatch, gaining experience in managing complex projects. Her ability to lead diverse creative campaigns shaped her into a versatile producer in the industry.
Their paths crossed again in early 2023 when they were hired to work on The Awakening, the Leeds 2023 Year of Culture launch event. The successful collaboration reignited their professional relationship, resulting in the launch of Mood Films. Since then, the company has made a quick impact, earning a Prolific North Creative Award nomination for The Grieving Pint, a campaign about men’s mental health, during the summer.
Louis and Jeanine are also committed to giving back, having both benefited from the Prince’s Trust program. “We understand how challenging it is to get started in this field, so we’re dedicated to supporting young talent,” says Louis. Mood Films collaborates with Access Moving Image to help the next generation of creatives and is backed by the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator to support its growth.
