Nicholas Steinberg has been named as the new editor of Steph’s Packed Lunch.
Steinberg brings more than 25 years of experience to the series, having started his career at The Big Breakfast. His credits include Got To Dance, Popstars The Rivals and Five Dates a Week. He launched Popworld on Channel 4 and has been Creative Director of Shine TV and Executive Editor of Entertainment at Princess Productions.
“I can’t wait to join Steph and the team in Leeds at what is an exciting time for the show, as it goes from strength to strength. Nothing beats the thrill of live television, so to be able to go live five days a week is a real privilege and joy,” he said.
Channel 4 recently announced that it was extending the run of the weekday show for 2022.
Produced by Expectation in partnership with West Yorkshire-based Can Can Productions, the 100 minute programme is broadcast live from Leeds Dock.
“Nicholas’ wealth of experience is unrivalled, and we are absolutely delighted to see him take over the reins of a show we’re super proud of. It’s an exciting new chapter for SPL… come on ’22,” stated Rebecca Papworth, Executive Producer from Can Can Productions.
Expectation’s Executive Producer, Ben Wicks, added:
“I’m elated: we have a showrunner who has the live daily Channel 4 classic The Big Breakfast baked into his DNA – which means this next chapter in the story of Steph’s Packed Lunch is sure to be a thrilling one. Nicholas’s ideas, talent and passionate desire to take the show to the next level has excited us no end, and we very much look forward to him having the same effect on the viewers.”
Steinberg will take over from Vivek Sharma later this month. Sharma is leaving to become Executive Producer at News UK Broadcasting.
