Some of the biggest footballing legends to ever pull on a Spurs shirt have become inexplicably Mancunian for the latest ad from reliably comical bookmaker Paddy Power.

In the clip, we find Spurs legends including Glenn Hoddle, Teddy Sheringham and Gerry Francis espousing their love of all things Mancunian from the Smiths and soft drinks brand Vimto to Prolific North’s very own local hostelry The Briton’s Protection, all the while insisting on their unlikely recent revelation that they’re all lifelong Manchester City fans.

It takes a full two minutes of inexplicable berating of “that lot from Salford” and proudly showing off their City kits before we finally get to the truth of the matter.

With the current Premier League dogfight shaping up to be a two-horse race between City and Spurs’ bitter North London rivals Arsenal, it falls to Darren Anderton to deliver the punchline.

Paddy Power – Spurs Man City fans

Taking a rare break from injury to prune the bushes at his California home, Anderton pulls no punches when announcing that his current newfound adoration for the Blues is somewhat more straightforward: “It’s because I f**king hate Arsenal.”
